Born in London, England, Amanda Pays is the daughter of show business agent and actor Howard Pays and former actress Jan Miller. An aunt, Mandy Miller, won fame as a child star of the '50s film Crash of Silence (1952) . When she was eight, Pays started school at a nearby convent and it was there that she demonstrated her early skills as an actress. Possessing a distinctively throaty voice, she was invariably cast in the male roles in the all-girls school productions. At her mother's suggestion, Amanda sent a Polaroid picture to a modeling agent and almost instantly found herself enjoying a successful career which, for the next four years, took her around the world. Then, at twenty-two, she suddenly tired of what she called "clotheshorsing" and decided to jump into the acting field. Born in London, England, Amanda started modeling right out of high school at the age of 17.
She spent 4 years traveling the World and working with photographers that included David Bailey, Clive Arrowsmith, Terence Donovan, Lord Snowden, and John Swannell. and in later years Steven Meisel , Patrick Demarchelier Denis Piel and Mathew Rolston.
She was lucky enough to grace the covers of such magazines as Vogue, Harpers and Queen, Harpers Bazaar, and Tatler, among others.
But in her heart, she wanted to dig deeper and explore an acting career, so she gave up modeling and studied for 1 year before landing her first acting role opposite George Segal in an HBO movie called ‘The Cold Room’.
From here, Amanda made her way across the pond where she continued starring in such movies as Oxford Blues, and television series ‘Max Headroom’, and ‘The Flash’. She also met her future husband, actor Corbin Bernsen, and then embarked on the most important journey of her life, raising a family.

Fille de l'acteur britannique Howard Pays et de l'actrice Jan Miller, elle commence une carrière similaire au début des années 1980, apparaissant notamment dans Oxford Blues (1984), aux côtés de Rob Lowe ou encore dans le téléfilm Le Couteau sur la nuque (1985). Elle se fait connaître grâce à la série télévisée fantastique Max Headroom (1987-88), où elle interprète le personnage de Theora Jones. Elle donne également la réplique à Willem Dafoe dans Saïgon, l'enfer pour deux flics (1988), et tourne sous la direction de George P. Cosmatos dans le film de science-fiction Leviathan (1989). Dans les années 1990, Amanda Pays obtient le rôle de Tina McGee, qu'elle campe dans la série télévisée Flash (1990-91).
