Iconic narrator and voice-over artist Peter Thomas has died at the age of 91. Best known for narrating TLC‘s The Forensic Files, he most recently worked on the Changing Seas TV show (2009 – 2014), from WPBT2 in Miami, Florida.

Hist other TV series work includes Nova, Mobsters, Biography, Empires of Industry, Modern Marvels, Naked Planet, and How the West Was Lost. He also served as cinematographer on one 1993 episode of that series, “A Good Day to Die.”

Peter Thomas, 91, a voice-over icon and World War II veteran, died Saturday, nearly two years after he lost his wife and high school sweetheart, Stella Barrineau Thomas.

There are many people out there who may not know what Peter Thomas looks like, but they definitely know what he sounds like.

Peter Thomas (June 28, 1924 – April 30, 2016) was an American announcer and narrator of television programs, including Nova, Forensic Files and Medical Detectives.

Early life

Thomas was born in Pensacola, Florida,[2] to Dr. John D. Thomas and Sibyl Addenbrooke. He had two younger brothers, John and David.

Thomas began his career at fourteen as an announcer on a local radio show.[3] The station could not pay him due to his age, so they arranged for the sponsor, Piper Aircraft, to give him flying lessons in a Piper Cub.
