Biography

We’re stoked to announce that envy have joined our roster. The Tokyo 6-piece made a return to the scene with the release of last year’s digital single „Alnair in August“, and a few European shows this summer… including a fulminant performance at Hellfest, where the band completely destroyed the stage, the crowd and all bands before and after them.

We were there, we got destroyed. This left us all longing for more, and finally we are relieved to tell you that a new envy release is on its way!

Comments the band: „We are excited to be part of Pelagic Records and looking forward to release amazing records with them. Keep on track with our upcoming releases and hope to see you all at our EU tour in December 2019!”

They have recorded a number of singles and albums in Japan, including split albums with bands like Thursday, Jesu, This Machine Kills, Endeavor, Six Pence and Yaphet

Their music has evolved over the years to incorporate hardcore, screamo, and most recently, the epic tendencies of post-rock. Initially influential in the post-hardcore and screamo scenes, Envy soon began to employ elements of post-rock in their work as well.[1]

They have released 7 studio albums to date (with the most recent being Eunoia), as well as several EPs and splits, most notably with Jesu and American post-hardcore band Thursday. Original member and vocalist Tetsuya Fukagawa left Envy in 2016.[2]

On February 6, 2018, Envy announced a new lineup consisting of Tsuyoshi Yoshitake, Yoshimitsu Taki, and Hiroki Watanabe. A Japanese press release added that two members had left the band,[3] and founding guitarist and drummer Masahiro Tobita and Dairoku Seki were no longer listed as members on the band's Facebook page or
