Tom Weber is a Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 64th district. The district includes all or parts of Antioch, Bull Valley, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Lakemoor, Volo, and Woodstock.^[1]

Weber, a former Lake County Board member, defeated Democratic candidate Trisha Zubert in the 2018 general election.^[2]

Biography

Thomas Weber is Professor of History and International Affairs as well as the founding Director of the Centre of Global Security and Governance at the University of Aberdeen. He also is a Visiting Fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University; an Associate Fellow of the Center for Advanced Security, Strategic and Integration Studies at the University of Bonn; a Senior Associate of the Centre for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at the Munk School for Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto; and a Member of the Security History Network at Utrecht University. His expertise lies in European, international, and global political history from the 19th century to the present.

A native of Breckerfeld in Westphalia, he earned his DPhil from the University of Oxford. He also has taught or has held fellowships at Harvard, the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago, and the University of Glasgow.

Tom Weber is the co-founder and board director of Arbitration Resolution Services Inc., which provides online mediation and binding arbitration services across the country. Previously, he was a founding principal of Aquila Property Company; he also served as vice president for Ocwen Financial Corp. and worked for financial institutions on commercial projects around the world. He also was CEO of a Martin County foundation working with children. He has served as chair of the Education Foundation and as a member of the Business Development Board, Junior Achievement and Economic Council of Palm Beach County. Mr. Weber holds degrees from Florida Institute of Technology and Texas State University.
