Nikhil Nanda (born 18 March 1974) is an Indian businessman. He is the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Escorts Kubota Limited (formerly Escorts Limited), an Indian multinational engineering conglomerate that specialises in agricultural, construction and railways equipment and machinery. He is a third-generation entrepreneur, being the grandson Har Prasad Nanda, who founded the company in 1944, and son of Rajan Nanda, who served as the CMD of the group until August 2018.

Early life and background

Nikhil Nanda was born on 18 March 1974[3] in New Delhi to a Punjabi Hindu family. His father, Rajan Nanda from Fazilka, was an industrialist and the chairman and managing director of Escorts Group.[4] His mother, Ritu Nanda[5] (daughter of Raj Kapoor and Krishna Kapoor), worked as an insurance agent for Life Insurance Corporation.

Amitabh Bachchan thanked his fans for their concern as their family grieves the passing away of daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda’s father-in-law, the late Rajan Nanda.

Businessman Rajan Nanda passed away on Sunday evening and his entire family, Nandas, Bachchans and Kapoors, came together to bid him final goodbye. Amitabh Bachchan returned to India from Bulgaria, where he was currently based for the ongoing shoot of his new film Brahmastra, to be by the side of his daughter Shweta Bachchan’s grieving family in Delhi.

Shweta is married to Nikhil Nanda, Rajan’s son. Amitabh has now thanked his many fans for their concern and messages at the turn of events. Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “.. the messages of condolences are greatly and humbly acknowledged .. they speak of your affection and concern .. they convey the spirit and love of the Ef .. thank you.”

Har Prasad Nanda (9 January 1917 – 13 April 1999),[1] also spelled Har Parshad Nanda, was an Indian automotive industrialist and the founder of Escorts Group.[2][3]

Career

Nanda was born in Lahore (modern-day Pakistan) in British India, He had started the company as an agency in Lahore in 1944.[2] Nanda moved to Delhi after India's independence in 1947 with 5,000 INR and two cars. In 1949, he took the franchise of Massey Ferguson tractors and by 1959, he was manufacturing tractors with technological help from Ursus Factory of Poland.[4] He stepped down as the chairman in 1994.[5][4]
