This year has been dark for the Marathi Sangeet Natak Parampara. First, senior singer Ramdas Kamat passed away and now Smt. Kirti Shiledar. These are two very tragic losses. Pt. Ramdas Kamat was a very important singer-actor, who gave the Sangeet Natak new life.
Smt Kirti Shiledar, in my opinion, was one of the greatest singer-actresses of the Sangeet Natak tradition in recent time. She was such a versatile artist – while I have never seen her Kanhopatra in Sangeet Sant Kanhopatra, her rendition of Aga Vaikuntachya Raya made a deep impression on me.
